ReplyDeleteSome great conversions! I particularly like the way you’ve modified the Sherman’s, and remind me of some that I built back in the early 1970s. They had Airfix hulls with ROCO M40 tracks, and the turrets had large bustles added on the back and new mantlets and guns.

ReplyDeleteI used ROCO M40 tracks as well which required shortening (two cuts either side of the central road wheels). Fortunately I was able to use the M40 hulls with the Sherman tracks for the Tomat SP guns.
Surplus hulls have usefully donated two cupola each for use on the Shermans. Some will be used on Jordanian and Pakistani M48s.
The Sherman turret extensions were from the Anti-tank obstacle set (Dragon's teeth) as they are roughly the correct shape and size, modified with a mix of miliput and green stuff.
When making more than one of a vehicle, it always helps to have as many as possible identical components. Invariably you are always one set short it seems in most cases!
