Yet more Swiss Reislaufer

Finally worked my way through the remaining Swiss.

Command (with a French flag this time).

Pike (finished)

Halberds

Zweihander

And finally for the Swiss my interpretation of Cardinal Schinner (with a stray French Gendarme).

I also took delivery of the remaining "possible Hyborian Zinnfiguren in the style of Tony Bath (provenance uncertain)". I spare the reader any pictures of how they arrived bent into something resembling a creature from a  David Cronenberg film!

Unbent, still a few breakages including missing heads from elephant riders! After spending a couple of hours unbending I couldn't face getting out the super glue....

  1. The Swiss are really lovely, very nice work on them and very colourful. Great collection of Hyborian flats, a fair load there, should make for a fun game.

  2. Thanks Donnie. The Hyborian ancients are on the back burner until I can get them repaired and organised into armies.

    1. I had a chat with my pal about the figures and we had a look at the photos, and he thinks they almost certainly aren't Tony Baths but are inspired by them. He did caution that there was a lot of swapping of figures which went on in the Hyborean group though.

    2. Thanks Martin. Having seen a few figures that appear in both these lots and elsewhere, it's clear a lot of the recasts were swapped or traded widely.
Unless they were given to an individual by Tony Bath, the provenance gets tricky. I note even Phil Steele was uncertain about the source of some of the figures he was given.

  3. Handsome brushwork, Neil. Is the plan to base these singly or mount in units?

  4. Thanks Jonathan. The plan is to base in DBA sized element bases but build enough to form Impetus sized bases on sabots (2x cavalry, 4x infantry). The reason is I want to try different rule sets and some (like Furioso) use elements as part of the combat mechanisms. I'd prefer to base on Impetus sized bases from the off, but not all rule sets translate to simply using a bigger base as an element.

  5. whoa, nice haul of additional flats. I guess a lot of flats can be packed into a box. Repair work hopefully won't be too onerous.
Your painted flats are cool and well done. 😁

  6. Thanks Stew. Every single one was folded over.....
I just need to go through them with super glue and soda....

  7. Whatever the provenance, the "Ancients" are very nice figures and look like they're in need of a fight!

    1. MJT, well as they seem to have been intended for Hyboria, that's the use I will put them to. In their current state they look like they have gone several rounds.....☺
